Engine Cooling Systems

Your vehicle’s engine creates a lot of heat when running and requires constant cooling to operate normally and avoid engine damage.  The cooling normally occurs with a mixture of water and antifreeze circulating through the engine.  The antifreeze/water mixture is cooled as it is pumped through the radiator before returning to the engine.  This process takes place with a combination of the radiator, fan, water pump, temperature sensor, hoses & thermostat all working together.

If your engine overheats, any of the cooling system components may be involved.  Common overheating problems are caused by a leak which reduces the volume of the water/antifreeze solution.  In addition, your antifreeze has a useful life expectancy, and your recommended regular scheduled maintenance will provide suggested mileage intervals to replace your antifreeze.

WHEN YOUR VEHICLE IS IN FOR REGULAR SCHEDULED OIL SERVICE OR OTHER NECESSARY SERVICE, OUR TECHNICIANS WILL NORMALLY PERFORM A CHECK OF YOUR ANTIFREEZE CONDITION AND ADVISE IF IT IS TIME TO PERFORM A RADIATOR FLUSH TO REPLACE WORN OUT ANTIFREEZE.
